IPL 2026 fixtures release — the first read.

The BCCI released the IPL 2026 schedule. The desk’s first read on the venue rotations, the back-to-back windows, and the role implications for fantasy owners.

Venue rotation

Each franchise plays fourteen league-stage matches at its home venue and fourteen away. The rotation favours Wankhede, M. Chinnaswamy, Eden Gardens, and Narendra Modi Stadium — the four venues with the strongest recent role signal. Fantasy owners should weight those venues more heavily in the early fixture list.

Back-to-back windows

Three back-to-back windows fall in the league stage. The first falls on matchdays 8 and 9 (Wankhede, M. Chinnaswamy); the second on matchdays 18 and 19 (Eden Gardens, Arun Jaitley); the third on matchdays 32 and 33 (PCA Mohali, Sawai Mansingh). Fantasy owners should expect role rotations in those windows, especially for all-rounders with heavier workloads.

Role implications

The role map will tighten across the season. All-rounders with dual-format workloads will see rotation across back-to-back windows. Wrist-spinners will see consistent selection across formats. Pace allrounders will be more variable than the previous cycle, especially in the early phase before the overseas player slots stabilise.

For fantasy owners, the first read is to wait for the playing XI before locking captain picks in the early weeks. The squad rotation is more variable than the previous cycle.
