Predictions desk

Worked probability, not guaranteed outcomes.

Match previews framed as hypotheses, with the four inputs that move the read: venue history, head-to-head, toss impact, and recent role clarity. A prediction here is a decision aid, not a forecast.

The four inputs

Every prediction on this desk uses the same four inputs.

Venue history

Last four matches at the strip in use, not venue reputation. Boundary size, average first-innings score, and how the surface has played across day and evening windows.

Head-to-head

Recent meetings between the two squads — but only with overlapping personnel. Squad churn in T20 leagues makes five-year-old head-to-heads almost meaningless.

Toss impact

Evening T20s favour the chase at ~52% across the last 50 matches in India. Day matches flip the script. We weight the toss more heavily than most prediction desks.

Recent role clarity

Has the player’s role stayed stable across the last five innings? Role clarity is a stronger signal than recent totals when selecting captain and vice-captain.

What this desk will not do

Three editorial commitments that constrain how we frame predictions.

No guaranteed-win claims

We will not write “this team will win”. Cricket is uncertain. The desk frames predictions as hypotheses with named inputs.

No parlays, no accumulators

We do not publish multi-leg parlays or accumulator picks. Each match receives its own worked read.

No vendor score predictions

We do not predict exact scores or top-batter / top-bowler names for cash contests. The desk’s role is reading, not betting.
